Bill Clinton Might Need More Rest

Soon after New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson endorsed Sen. Barack Obama for the Democratic presidential nomination, a representative of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s campaign said Richardson’s support wasn’t all that.

The representative noted that the primary/caucus process in Texas was over and that the endorsement didn’t carry much weight now. I guess that meant the New Mexico governor couldn’t sway any votes other than those in Texas and the Southwest, or those of his Latin heritage.

But then informal Clinton adviser James Carville wrote a piece on Easter Sunday calling Richardson a Judas and his support for Obama a betrayal.

Well, according to a report in the San Francisco Chronicle Wednesday, the Clinton campaign seems to be thinking like Carville and less like that first spokesperson.

In a meeting of California super-delegates in San Francisco over the weekend, former president Bill Clinton apparently lost his cool when one of his wife’s supporters broached that subject.

The supporter said she was sorry Carville had chosen to call Richardson Judas. That was all Bill Clinton needed.

You can read the account at the Chronicles’ website: sfgate.com, or at http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2008/04/02/BAVNVU2PJ.DTL&tsp=1

He probably needed more rest since he had flown there from Chicago. Regardless, Bill doesn’t seem to be the asset his wife’s campaign had hoped for.
